5 Years of Amazing.

It's been 5 years. FIVE whole years. Five years since our lives forever changed when we said YES to Jesus and landed in America with our first adopted kiddos---Bereket (12), Bethlehem (8), and Selam (5). And just like that, we went from being a family of 5 to a family of 8, from having 3 kids to being blessed with 6: three blondies, three Ethiopians. Beautiful. Redemption. Heavenly. Bliss.

Fast-forward five years. And look at our precious kids now. Still the same light in their eyes, but with more hope for their futures. Still the same love and tenderness, but with more depth and understanding. Still the same zest for life, but now with the certainty of living.

My friends, if you have ever doubted that adoption is worth it, may your wondering cease. I can't think of anything more worth it. I can't think of anything to which I would rather give my life. I can't think of anything closer to the heart of God.

"...Bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
    instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
    for the display of his splendor."
